Glendale Police Department, CA

June 2008 - New PUMA II Digital Recorders and the PUMA Management System will provide Glendale Police Department with a more reliable digital recorder for recording and software to provide easier access to information.  The Glendale Police Department has purchased the new PUMA II Digital recorders and PUMA Management software to replace their current digital recorders.

The Police department conducted a survey of its department use of their current DAR’s.  In the survey officers were asked question about their current use of the department issued digital recorder.  From the responses they learned that there were many deficiencies in the operation of the recorders.  When the officers were asked if their recorders work efficiently, 70 % of the responses were negative.  When they were asked if they knew if the recorder was on, 93 % stated that they did not know.  89% of the officer stated that they had difficulties finding the record button. And even though most responded negatively to the recorder only 21% stated that they prefer not to use their recorders in the field.

After reviewing demonstrations of the PUMA Recorders and software and calling on other departments using PUMA recorders the Police Department found PUMA to best met their needs now and into the future.
